What Happens When It Rains On Your Wedding Day?

Southern Illinois weather can be a little unpredictable certain times of the year. While many cultures & wedding traditions say that rain on your wedding day is good luck the last thing you should have to worry about on your wedding day is coming up with a plan b due to the weather. Thankfully after years of working weddings we have a couple things we do here at Celebrations Event Center to navigate unfavorable weather during a wedding.

We Stay Weather Aware:

We stay weather aware! Leading up to your wedding day we are aware of what is being forecasted to help us prepare for any weather changes. We are checking the weather several weeks out, a week out, and the day before. If we think there may be a need to come up with a new plan for an outdoor ceremony or if there may be a risk of severe weather we will start that discussion with you as soon as possible. So we can prepare to make any last minute changes as smoothly as possible.

Built In Plan B:

While you may be dreaming of an outdoor ceremony reality is sometimes the weather doesn't always cooperate. However at Celebrations Event Center you don't have to stress over where your ceremony will be held in case it rains. If the weather isn't copperating for an outdoor ceremony at our pergola we also have a lovely indoor chapel that works perfectly as a back up plan for rain. With its neutral colors it sets the perfect elegant backdrop for your wedding day decor color scheme.

We Handle The Chaos:

Celebrations Event Center is more then just a space to have your wedding! Your wedding package comes with an entire list of perks however it's hard to capture the amount of hospitality and service you will receive when you book with us on a list. Jon & Amber are on site through the duration of your wedding to help make things go as smoothly as possible. Which means if there is a last min change due to the weather we are the ones that handle the set up change and the moving the chairs inside for you.

Prepared To Shelter If Needed:

We have navigated severe weather alerts during previous weddings. In the unfortunate event that we do end up under a tornado warning during a wedding or event we are as prepared as we can be. We will instruct guests where the safest places are to shelter in our building and check each space in our building to make sure that every guest is aware of the situation. Our 13,000 sq foot building is built into the hillside making our bottom floor a large walk out basement. The safest area's to shelter in our building during a storm would be our downstairs bathrooms, grooms room and the back hallway. Those locations are located away from all windows on the bottom floor and in the center of the building.

Indoor Photo's:

When the weather isn't cooperating we still have lots of beautiful locations indoors to capture your wedding day! With large windows our foyer is flooded with natural light even on cloudy days making it perfect for beautiful bridal photos. Our catwalk and staircase have been the backdrop for photos at most weddings and are a stunning option for when its not ideal to take photos outside.

It can be disappointing when the weather is'nt what you had hoped for on your wedding day and plans have to change. But at Celebrations Event Center we do our best to make those changes as stress free as possible for you by having back up plans in place.
